HOW GOD HELPED US DELIVER OUR 4.2KG BABY AT HOME

As the month of November, 2022, gradually came to a close, my husband and I
anticipated the delivery of our second child. And so we made all the necessary
arrangement, booked in a hospital and paid for the delivery ahead. I had my
delivery supplies packed in a bag, while I observed my body for signs. Meanwhile,
my husband had rescheduled his time and activities to allow him mostly available
at home.
Tuesday, the 29th of November 2022 felt like every other day, and so I went
about my activities, however, feeling hopeful. Suddenly, things took a turn as I
began to feel a little contraction. Usually, an average labour lasts for 8 to 10 hours
for subsequent births, but mine progressed rapidly. I felt the need to use the
restroom, and so I did. Right after that, the contraction was so intense that I could
feel the baby’s head pushing through. In that moment, it hit me that “this was
going to be a home delivery.” And in a split second, without giving us any room to
think, the water broke! We were both confused about whether to just get into
the car and drive to the hospital (because that is the ideal thing to do right?), but
on the other hand, the baby was quite eager to come out because he kept
pushing through and you could literally see his head. At that instant, my husband
could see the pain in my eyes, and I remember having the thought that “is this
where and how I get to die.” But you see, God loves me way beyond my
comprehension, because the couple of events that took place from thenceforth,
were totally divinely orchestrated. I also remember participating in the “fruitful
vine program” that was put together for pregnant and awaiting couples at My
Father’s House (RCCG Victory Chapel, Magodo). That program is such a blessing.
God bless the organizers.
My husband, who had to become my emergency doctor, told me to lay down and
just push (he was with me in the delivery room when I was delivered of our first
child). I was in pain and reluctant to push at first. And then he said “Babym,
please just push, I can see the baby’s head. And with just one push the baby’s
head was out. I could see how tensed my husband was, but he kept shouting the
name “JESUS”. At this point where the baby’s head was now out, he didn’t knowwhat to do next. And then I told him to turn the baby to give room for the baby’s
shoulder to come out (this knowledge was from the experience of our first child’s
delivery), and next thing the baby was fully out (everything happened real fast).
At this point we called a relative, who is a medical practitioner, in UK and she put
us through the process of cutting and tying the umbilical cord. And then we made
our way to the hospital where the placenta was delivered. Surprisingly, and to the
amazement of the doctor, the cervical tear I sustained due to the baby push was
very mild, considering the weight of the baby.
The testimony is not in the fact that we had a home delivery (because that should
not even be encouraged) rather God (our Great Physician) took charge of the
whole process such that there was no complication, bleeding or loss of blood.
And when we finally arrived at the hospital, we were amazed to hear that the
birth weight of the baby was 4.2kg! Series of test were run on him and he was
given a clean bill of health. Hence, there was no need to keep him in admission
any further. I on the other hand was checked and confirmed good to go too. And
so we were discharged the next day. We have never and will never, by God’s
grace, have any need to rush him back to the hospital. Our baby is now 7 months
going on 8, and he is bouncing in the Lord.
No one, not even the medical doctors could take the glory for this one, because
“all the glory belongs to God
